Willy Wonka is a sweet, chatty boy looking for a loving home.
He is in diabetic remission now, which is great news! Remission means he does not currently need any treatment, and can stay healthy on a low-carb diet! (Don’t worry - it’s not hard to find, nor is it more expensive than lots of other cat foods! He loves the Purina DM dry food, and Fancy Feast pate wet food.) However, he will need ongoing weekly glucose checks, and may need treatment in future.
He has adorable little freckles on his nose, gums, and paw pads.
Willy Wonka is a champion hider, and loves to find new places to tuck himself into. He will come out when you call, especially if he hears the sound of a can opening, or if you’re holding a tube treat for him. He has a very cute little meow and will « chat » with you, especially around mealtime! He likes to announce his presence in a room with a hello meow. He enjoys catnip and playing with string toys.
He is a little shy around new people, or when he’s in a new place, but he warms up quickly - especially if there’s tube treats involved!
He loves both wet and dry food, and is very food-motivated. He enjoys being petted and brushed, and will happily purr away while being groomed.
He enjoys affection on his own terms - he will let you know when he’s had enough with a light swat. For this reason, he may not be an ideal fit for homes with very young children, although older children who can read his body language should have no problems.
He is friendly with the other fixed male cat in the home, but they are not bonded. He would likely integrate well with other cats, given proper introductions. He may also be happy as a solo cat.
He has good litter habits (using an uncovered litter box).
He is friendly and calm at the vet.
In many ways, he’s a typical orange cat - sweet, playful, affectionate.
If you’re looking for a new friend, come say hi!
